Class Description:
Pictorial carving is a subject many leather carvers shy away from because classes on the topic are rarely taught. This type of carving happens to be a favorite and specialty of Jim Linnell. In this workshop, students will be carving a mountain scene that includes mountains, hills, pine trees of all sizes, rocks, grass, bushes and all the other elements that make up a pictorial carving. Jim will be using the new pictorial carving tools that have been introduced by Barry King Tools. Jim will also show some alternate methods of creating similar effects with other tools. If this is a type of carving that has seemed intimidating to you, then this is the workshop you need to attend.
Materials to Bring: Stamping surface, stylus, swivel knife, strop, modelling spoon, and mallet. As mentioned, Jim will be using the pictorial stamping tools recently introduced by Barry King Tools. Here are comparable numbers from Craftool that will be helpful, especially if they are older stamps.
